PWC kicks off its 10th annual Ramp It Up For Veterans campaign on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. As part of the campaign, PWC is partnering with WCPO-TV for the seventh annual Ramp It Up For Veterans live telethon scheduled for Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m.
AARP Cincinnati is the Proud Media Sponsor for the telethon, which will be held at PWC (4612 Paddock Road, Cincinnati, OH 45229) where veterans will answer phones and accept donations while honoring the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The telethon will air on WCPO-TV.
PWC provides critical home repairs, weatherization and home accessibility modifications that allow veterans to remain safe and healthy in their own homes. Since the Ramp It Up For Veterans campaign was first launched in 2012, more than 4,500 households of veterans or their surviving spouses and/or children have been assisted.
The fastest-growing demographic of veterans are those ages 65 years and older. In Hamilton County alone, 54 percent of all veterans are over the age of 65 with 2,534 living in poverty. PWC currently has 381 veterans across 21 counties on its waiting list for services.
“As the aging demographics of the veterans in our local communities continues to rise, PWC remains committed to giving back and serving those who helped to protect our freedoms,” said Ron Henlein, PWC’s director of corporate and community partnerships. “Veterans didn’t put our country on hold when called to serve, so they shouldn’t be on a waiting list as they are now facing physical or mobility challenges due to factors such as aging, disability, income or unemployment.”
The Ramp It Up for Veterans campaign runs through the end of the year. All donations, no matter the size, are critical in helping PWC meet the growing number of veterans in need across the region.
